pistachio ice cream with friendkeh (via *Karo*)
The last few days here in NYC have felt like fall—chilly, windy and rainy. It’s supposed to move back up into the 80s this week, but for now I feel like the summer is almost over. Seems fitting that I’d celebrate HBW with a summer-inspired ice cream shot then, this week. Of course, I’m also lactose intolerant.
This is deep on so many levels. I only wish I had taken the picture.
If you are, in fact serious, could you elaborate? How many levels, and what are they specifically? Because all I see is ice cream on a cone.
——-
Isn’t it obvious? Let me break it down for you…
The pistachio flavor represents all of us… Only when we allow ourselves to be opened, will our true character be revealed. Some of us are natural, while others are just as the red pistachio; dyed in color, as if trying to make beautiful something that was not intended for beauty.
The double scoop represents capitalism, always telling us to consume more and more and more when half as much was likely more than enough. We have to rush to use all we purchase before it becomes wasted, but that effort is futile.
The cone represents the downward spiral into which all excess drips, until it has soaked through leaving our hands, both literally and figuratively, a sticky mess, to which no number of napkins will suffice.
Also, note that the background is out of focus. We have become singularly focused on consuming that the world around us is insignificant. That woman beyond the cone appears to be looking longingly at it. Does she covet what is not hers, as our capitalistic society dictates. Or is she in need of food and wishes only for what you will eventually throw away? We don’t know. And we don’t care.
